Meet the Curi Capital Team: Spotlight on Beth Dalton, Chief Compliance Officer

3 Minute Read

This month, we sat down with Beth Dalton, Chief Compliance Officer, to discuss her transition to the Curi Capital team following the KDI acquisition, the evolution of her career, and where she finds joy outside of work.

At Curi Capital, it’s our mission to help clients build true wealth, however they define it. Our team brings the knowledge, experience, and passion to help clients meet their goals through a wide range of financial services and solutions—and we’d love for you to meet them.

COULD YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR ROLE WITH CURI CAPITAL AND WHAT YOUR EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN LIKE SO FAR?

As Chief Compliance Officer, my role is to be aware of and understand all the SEC regulations that we are subject to as a registered investment advisory or RIA, and implement processes to ensure we are in compliance. I work to relay that information and educate the team to make sure everyone knows what is expected of them in regards to compliance.

My experience on the Curi Capital team has been great following the acquisition of KDI at the end of 2021. I’ve enjoyed working with everyone and appreciate the teams’ commitment to compliance, even though it isn’t in everyone’s title.

WHAT LED TO YOUR CAREER?

My undergrad was in Business Administration and Management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Then I went on to earn my MBA with a concentration in Finance at Georgia State University. My background in finance equipped me to transition into compliance, which I’ve found a knack for.

WHAT DID YOU DO IN YOUR CAREER BEFORE JOINING THE CURI CAPITAL TEAM?

I started out my career in finance and then moved into investor relations for a public company. After taking some time off to move to North Carolina and have my kids, I was looking to return to work part-time. I learned about what was then KDI Capital Partners, and their search for someone to handle compliance, which I had never done before.

I began doing a bit of financial analysis at KDI until the role developed and the need for dedicated compliance work grew. We had to register with the SEC, which I led the charge of, creating our compliance program and going through the registration process. I’ve always been a rule follower—and that’s very much what compliance is all about.

WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR THE FIRM?

My vision for Curi Capital is continued growth whether that be through acquisitions, new team members, and/or our client base, while still maintaining our strong client-focused approach.

WHAT SETS CURI CAPITAL APART FROM OTHER FIRMS?

At Curi Capital, our clients come first no matter what your role with the firm is. The goal is to always make our clients feel that we are adding value to their lives, and that we are in the business to support them in whatever they need.

The clients are not just a number in a list for us. There is real emphasis and care placed on building and fostering personal relationships with each client. Each advisor truly knows their clients and caters to their unique needs and goals.

WHAT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES OF YOUR PERSONAL LIFE?

Being a mom to two wonderful daughters, who are both very successful and independent, is a true joy in my life.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OR HOBBIES OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I enjoy spending time with my family and extended family. We do an annual vacation with my parents and sisters and all our families. Also volunteering with and supporting local philanthropies like The Carrying Place and Ronald McDonald House. And of course, I love watching and cheering for all UNC sports!
